A look back at the unforgettable 2007 Ice Hockey playoffs crowning not only the Anaheim Ducks but also the State of California as a first-time champion in the Stanley Cup Finals. The relentless Anaheim Ducks became the first Californian team and the fourth West Coast team to win the Stanley Cup in June during the 2006-2007 series. Led by Head Coach, Randy Carlyle, and Assistant Coach, Dave Farrish, the National Hockey League (NHL) trophy was brought home in California after defeating Ottawa Senators in five games at the Honda Center. Game five, which determined this historical victory, was concluded with 30 shots on goal by both teams. Anaheim Ducks fans celebrated the fierce Andy McDonald and Rob Niedermayer who scored the first two goals, Travis Moen who scored one goal in the second period, Francois Beauchemin scoring one goal in the third period restoring a 4-2 lead for the Anaheim Ducks, and Travis Moen and Antoine Vermette who scored two more goals this way by securing the 2007 championship with a 6-2 margin. Except for Scott Niedermayer who had previously won three Stanley Cups in 1995, 1999-2000, and 2002-2003, the rest of the Anaheim Ducks won their first Stanley Cup. Captain Niedermayer unsurprisingly won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2007 Stanley Cup Playoffs after recording 3-8=11 points and securing victory for the Anaheim Ducks.
