2022 Tennessee Volunteers SEC Champions

The Tennessee Volunteers win the 2022 Southeastern Conference (SEC) Basketball Tournament defeating Texas A&M with a score of 65-50 at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. This is Tennessee's first SEC Tournament championship since 1979.

The SEC Title was won by the incredible performance of the Vols who managed a 14-0 lead in the first minutes of the game. Santiago Vescovi scored 17 points and four three-pointers, Josiah-Jordan James scored 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Kennedy Chandler scored 14 points, four rebounds, and seven assists. Vescovi, James, Chandler, and Zakai Zeigler, together, made 6 three-pointers in the second half.

The freshman guard, Kennedy Chandler was named the MVP of this SEC Tournament, being the second to hold such a title in the program's history. In addition, Chandler, Vescovi, and James, together, are named to the SEC All-Tournament Team.

Following this unforgettable achievement for the Tennessee Volunteers, Danny White, serving as the Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics, recognized the unmatched leadership of head coach Rick Barnes. White announced that Barnes, who continues to write a legendary history for the Vols, will have an extended contract with the Vols.
