As lowly #7 seeds, Connecticut was not supposed to reach the championship game. Neither were their opponents, #8 seed Kentucky. This National Championship Game was historic, this tournament's final was the first to not include at least one 1, 2, or 3 seed. A face off between two Cinderella teams! The game was played on April 7, 2014, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.Connecticut got out to a quick start, leading by 15 points in the first half. Kentucky fought back, narrowing the gap to 35–31 at halftime. In the second half, Kentucky got within one point on several occasions, but never took the lead. Connecticut pulled away in the final minute, winning the game, 60–54. Shabazz Napier was named MVP. The next day, the UConn Huskies women's team won the women's NCAA basketball tournament, making history again!
